Oregon offers some very unique sites. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in North America at 2000 feet, caused by the collapse of the volcano, Mount Mazama. Natural rock "sculptures" abound on the Oregon coast; one looks like a human face. The Painted Hills are an incredible formation of volcanic ash deposits. I was lucky to visit during a massive thunderstorm—the sky went a vibrant pink and the hills lit up with incredible colors. Thor's Well is stunning. A natural sinkhole on the Oregon coast, the "Drainpipe of the Pacific" is like a reverse geyser, sucking in massive amounts of water in a never-ending vortex.
