Deer, Elk and Moose

I love wildlife photography for the thrill of the search—the satisfaction of tracking an animal and finally spotting it. Even better, I know I’ve done it no harm. Hunting with a camera leaves only footprints, and I’m perfectly happy with that.

In this gallery, you’ll find some of my favorite moose, elk, and deer photos. It features two elk species: the smaller Tule Elk from Point Reyes, California and the larger Rocky Mountain Elk common across the Canadian Rockies. Like all large mammals, they demand deep respect—and I’m extra cautious in the field during moose and elk rutting season!
